Main Committee to sight Muharram crescent on Monday
Muscat: The Main Committee for the Sighting of the Hijri Months Crescent at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs will convene on Monday evening to observe the crescent moon marking the beginning of Muharram 1448 AH.
The meeting will be chaired by Dr Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
The ministry has called on citizens and residents to participate in sighting the crescent in coordination with field teams across the wilayats or by contacting the subcommittees operating through the offices of the respective walis.
The committee will receive and verify moon-sighting reports before announcing the start of the new Hijri year.
