Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival opens with 45 days of summer attractions
AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has launched the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival 2026, offering 45 days of cultural, entertainment and tourism activities aimed at enhancing the mountain destination’s appeal during the summer season.
The festival, inaugurated on July 15 at the celebrations grounds in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, will continue until August 29, with activities held daily from 4:30 pm, featuring a wide range of experiences for visitors, families and tourists.
Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, said festivals serve as important platforms bringing together visitors, artisans, small and medium enterprises, and businesses, helping stimulate economic activity and promote domestic and international tourism.
The festival features over 90 participants representing SMEs, craftsmen and farmers.
He highlighted the role of such events in providing opportunities for local talents to showcase their creativity and develop sustainable private enterprises, expressing confidence that future editions would continue to expand in artistic and cultural content.
Ahmed bin Salem al Tobi, Director-General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said the festival features more than 90 participants representing productive families, SMEs, craftsmen and farmers, with around 90 per cent of participants from Al Jabal Al Akhdhar.
He noted that the annual festival is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the SME Development Authority and private sector partners to diversify activities, enhance visitor experiences and highlight the economic, tourism and historical significance of the wilayat.
Al Tobi praised the residents of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar for their continued support, describing them as key partners in ensuring the festival’s success.
The festival includes several attractions such as a farmers’ market, theatre performances, a cinema dome, children’s entertainment zones, an inflatable games city, a family oasis and a dedicated food experience area.
The programme also features major events including the Gulf Equestrian Festival, Fig and Olive Gathering, traditional folk performances, the Green Heart theatrical show and a roaming cartoon characters carnival.
The festival is supported by strategic partner OQGN and sponsored by Oman LNG, Bank Muscat and several national institutions.
