Port of Duqm Welcomes World’s Largest BYD Car Carrier in Major Logistics Milestone
The port of Duqm, located in the Sultanate of Oman, has now come to a level of operations. This is because of the arrival of one of the world’s Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) automotive carriers. This ship belongs to BYD, a car company that manufactures electric vehicles.

By providing direct connectivity to fast-growing consumer markets across the Middle East, South Asia, and East Africa, the port offers global manufacturers significant supply chain efficiencies and reduced transit times compared to traditional regional maritime routes.
The landmark berthing aligns directly with the strategic objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040, which prioritises economic diversification, infrastructure modernisation, and the expansion of the national logistics sector.
