A specialized unit of law enforcement identified all the persons who appeared in the videos following their massive popularity on social media platforms. This indicates the stringent measures taken with respect to regulating the dignity of workers, social conduct, and online publishing in the country.
According to the investigation conducted by the authorities, there were separate cases behind both the videos. It was established that in one of the videos, an expatriate had hurled money at a man on duty.
By contrast, the second clip—which showed a similar action directed toward a female employee—was determined to be a staged recreation. Statements provided by the woman and her companions indicated that the dramatized scene was produced under the premise of raising public awareness.

Despite claims of educational intent regarding the simulated video, law enforcement officials confirmed that legal procedures are currently being finalized against all participants involved in both recordings.
Under Omani cybercrime statutes and public order laws, generating, sharing, or staging content that depicts degrading behavior toward workers or the misuse of legal tender remains strictly subject to legal prosecution, regardless of whether the footage is authentic or scripted.
The police response aligns with broader regulatory efforts across the Sultanate aimed at safeguarding labor rights and maintaining strict oversight over digital media production. The ROP routinely monitors social media networks for violations that compromise public order, disrespect service personnel, or misrepresent societal norms.
Authorities reiterated their call for citizens and foreign residents to respect labor dignities, adhere to established regulations, and refrain from producing or sharing online content that disrupts social harmony. Oman Economic Times
