The inspectors from the Environment Authority (EA) found out that the manufacturing plant, which runs in the Wilayat of Al Kamil and Al Wafi, was discharging untreated sewage into     the environment, violating the statutory standards set by the environmental laws of Oman.

This legal action has been taken as part of a larger monitoring program for industrial areas in South Al Sharqiyah. The environmental authority took the manufacturing unit to task due to the fact that it was illegally dumping sewage in the environment and thus affecting its soil, groundwater, and wadi environment. Authority officials confirmed that formal violation notices were issued, referring the offending company to competent judicial bodies for legal prosecution and administrative penalties.

In an official statement detailing the enforcement measure, the Environment Authority reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy toward industrial pollution. The agency urged all commercial enterprises, industrial facilities, and manufacturing plants operating across the Sultanate to strictly adhere to environmental licensing requirements, implement proper wastewater treatment systems, and install certified filtration infrastructure prior to discharging liquid waste.

Oman’s national environmental framework imposes rigorous penalties on non-compliant facilities, including heavy administrative fines, mandatory environmental remediation costs, and potential temporary suspension of commercial operating licenses for repeat offenders.

By stepping up field inspections across governorates, the Environment Authority aims to enforce strict compliance with sustainable manufacturing practices. The ongoing monitoring efforts align industrial expansion with Oman’s national conservation strategy, safeguarding natural resources, delicate local ecosystems, and public health throughout the Sultanate.
